Dortmund star a doubt for Wembley clash
Borussia Dortmund defender Marc Bartra is a doubt for his team’s Champions League clash with Tottenham at Wembley.
The Spain international is nursing a thigh injury and will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s match.
Dortmund will definitely be without skipper Marcel Schmelzer, who faces six weeks out with an ankle injury.
Spurs are hoping to improve on last season’s disappointing Champions League campaign and a record which has seen them win just twice in 12 matches at Wembley.
“Now we want to have a good Champions League campaign this year. We’ve got to learn from last year’s campaign,” said Harry Kane, who scored his 100th Tottenham goal in their win at Everton on Saturday.
“I think the fact we’re playing teams like Real Madrid and Dortmund will help us, because it will be a big motivation to try to beat those teams.
“We’ve got to test ourselves against the best if we want to be one of the top teams in Europe. You’ve got to see where you are, and all the lads are looking forward to it.
“It’s going to be an amazing atmosphere. It’s really going to feel like a big Champions League night, so we’ve got to go and perform on the big stage. We’ve just got to go out and use that to our advantage.”
