Wimbledon Favourites 2021

Last year, many of us were disappointed to see one of the most prized tournaments in tennis cancelled. Wimbledon has long been a favourite of ours, but alas due to the pandemic, it had to be sacrificed in aid of lowering the curve of transmissions. One year later, we now have a vaccine that has been administered and falling rates of transmission. However, what does that mean for the sport? Well, it can commence and proceed forward of course! Tennis fans got a peak of what they were looking forward to with the Australian Open, and now this year the eyes are on Wimbledon, with predictions of who may take that grand slam once again.

Should you be having an eye on certain individuals for favourites in Wimbledon, you can take the gamble and place a wager as per this page for new betting sites UK. It only takes getting it right once, to make a killing in your returns, so why not take the risk? With the cancellation last year, this year makes it even more imperative to do so.

Novak Djokovic

Novak has long been welcomed on the grass courts of Wimbledon, in fact he will be returning as the defending champion for the grand slam, as he won the last recorded one back in 2019 against the grand slam pioneer Roger Federer. It is believed that this final was one of the most epic ever recorded within Wimbledon history, and in turn a Djokovic defending final would go down even better, wouldn’t it?

Djokovic is believed to be one of the most dominant in terms of odds and winning this grand slam, since he is the only champion thus far to have won one, back in the Australian open, and for the ninth time might we add. It is certain that he will enter the court with maximum confidence, especially as he is known to train super hard for this. He is also the top ranked player for 310 weeks running, matching a record which has been previously set by the great Roger Federer himself, who has recently been stated the first billionaire within the sport, by Insider.

Daniil Medvedev

Next on the list is none other than Daniil Medvedev, who is yet still waiting for his first grand slam title, but it’s very much on his way there some would say. The Russian player just suffered a huge defeat in his career, with the Australian Open falling away from his grasp just this past season. Could Wimbledon be his to take away and relish as the first grand slam in his career?

His grass form has not really got there as critics would say, just yet. Previous records have shown that he has only managed to get to the third round before he was knocked out, in both the 2018 and 2019 tournaments. However, this past year alone has seen the Russian really pull his socks up and improve on his form. The victories during the Tour Finals are just a start to his career, and that should not stop anyone from believing that he could be one of the favourites to take on the grass court within a final. Underdogs always seem to find ways of impressing and shocking the world, in one way or another…

Rafa Nadal

Of course, you would have definitely expected this Spanish star making his way into the favourites, since he’s never really left. Currently Rafa is at a world rank 3 position, and he has shown countless times in the past, to never really have an issue when it comes to taking on the grass courts. Even though he has not managed to win Wimbledon since the year 2010, part of Rafa would of course love to lift the trophy up once again. His previous win there was against Tomas Berdych, however this year is looking towards one of the other two contenders mentioned.

He famously lost Wimbledon back in 2019, where he played against Federer, a tennis star that has managed to win the grass courts a total of 8 record breaking times before. In the past years and more recently he has only ever been able to make the semi-finals, and with the year cancellation of this tournament, some would say 2021 is the year where he can make the colossal impact that he is very much hoping to make. No one can deny what kind of player he actually is, however should he face Djokovic before reaching the final, we do not see him coming out at the top when Novak has better command of the grass surface overall. Time will tell all though, won’t it?
