Will Hughes hijack West Brom’s bid for Birmingham City keeper?
Mark Hughes is remaining tight-lipped over reports he is looking to pip West Bromwich Albion to the signing of Birmingham goalkeeper Ben Foster.
The England international is on loan at The Hawthorns and the Baggies are keen to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
But Hughes has expressed some interest in taking Foster to west London in the summer if QPR stay in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Rangers are one of a number of clubs who have watched Birmingham’s highly-rated young keeper Jack Butland, who was recently linked with a move to Manchester United.
“There’s speculation about players but we’re not thinking in those terms yet,” said Hughes.
“A lot of players’ names get banded about. I can’t confirm or deny anything really. At the moment my focus is on getting the points we need to stay in the Premier League.”

QPR a bigger, better club? Based on what exactly? obviously not league position? And as for money situation…..http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2114753/QPR-owner-Tony-Fernandes-faces-financial-nightmare-down.html.
If you go down, financially you could be in deep trouble.

Kieran. I think you’ll find that whilst he did enjoy his time at BCFC. Since then he has seen the club become embroiled in internal turmoil. BCFC are very close to administration. Failure to get back into the PL will see this happen. Even if Blues get up, Yeungs trial and a potential guilty verdict may well see his assets seized. This too will harm BCFC.
BCFC have been left behind at all levels by all three Midlands rivals. All have far better facilities, infrastructure etc…. Wolves and WBA are expanding their stadiums and the junior/youth set up is at least ten years behind the others. The kids didn’t even get kits this year. The whole place has descended into a farce. The one shining light in all this is Chris hughton (probably the most underated manager). His stock is increasing with every game. He will be sought after this summer mark my words. Rumours already kicking round that he’s been lined up for a role at Spurs, should Harry move on. He’ll jump ship if a better offer comes along.
Foster openly urged Ridgewell to leave blues and join WBA. is that the action of someone going back. He will definitely be in the PL next yext year but I 100% promise you it wont be at Blues. If he doesn’t stay at WBA (they may not meet the asking price) others definitely will.

King Rollo you talk as if you actually know him personally. You said one thing for sure he won’t go back to Birmingham. And you know this how?.
In this article it states that he loved his time at Birmingham so why is it certain he wouldn’t go back to them?

Foster is a family guy who wants to play first team football. He lives approximately 40 ish miles from the Baggies and I believe car shares with Dean Kiely. He is a great keeper and whilst Hart edges it, there’s little in it in terms of ability. His decision to stop playing for England is down to the fact he realises this and may as well spend time with his family in what is otherwise a hectic domestic schedule. He’s apparently very happy at WBA. Whilst a lot will depend on QPR’s league status next year, the journey from South Warks to West London on the M40 is only 80 or so miles so the travelling/family thing may not be such an issue. I know I do the journey twice a week. If QPR stay up it will be an interesting call, given QPR’s undoubted financial clout, otherwise I think he’ll stay. One thing is for sure he wont be going back to Birmingham even if they do get up.

am very much hoping the Baggies blow the deal and Foster goes to a bigger and better club than west brom, why would Foster want to be in a perpetual fight with relegation when he can possibly move to a bigger and better club. QPR may go down but they have much more money than West Brom and will eventually be a firm fixture in the Premiership

Foster is happy at the Baggies and would’nt move from the Midlands, if anything he would move back to Birmingham if they are promoted, not to a team fighting relagation

Is this a joke? Why would Foster take a backward step from WBA to QPR? I also believe he is settled in the Midlands & unlikely to want to move to London
