Will Brentford beat the Premier League drop?
It has been a stunning start to the Premier League season for newly-promoted Brentford, who were tipped by many as favourites to make an instant return to the Championship.
With 8 games played so far in the league season, the Bees have defied early season predictions and find themselves flying high in 9th in the Premier League table.
Central to their success under Thomas Frank in the Championship was their ability to score plenty of goals, something they have instantly converted into the Premier League – with 10 goals scored from their opening 8 fixtures.
They have already picked up a point against high-flying Liverpool and beaten the likes of Arsenal and West Ham in impressive fashion, whilst they were unlucky in the eyes of many to be beaten by West London rivals Chelsea last time out.
With the league table starting to take shape and with the likes of Newcastle and Watford changing their respective managers already in an attempt to turn around their fortunes, attention now turns to whether Brentford can sustain this for the rest of the season, or they will plummet down the table.
Bees Are Staying Up…
Such has been the quality of the start to the season Brentford have enjoyed, they already find themselves 9 points clear of the relegation zone with 8 games played.
Wins over West Ham, Arsenal and Wolves have solidified their status as one of the sides to watch this season – along with creditable draws against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
Thomas Frank is a real forward thinker within the English game and his swashbuckling 3-5-2 system is catching some of the biggest sides in the division unawares.
At 8/1 with Betway to get relegated this season, in contrast to 1/25 with Paddy Power to actually go down – things are looking good for at least another season of Premier League football at the Brentford Community Stadium next year.
How far can Brentford Go?
With serious investment in both the playing squad and their new state-of-the-art stadium in West London, all associated with the club see the Bees as a Premier League outfit and they have proven themselves as just that so far this term.
Finishing in the top half of the Premier League table come next May would be a serious achievement for Brentford, who are enjoying their first ever season as a Premier League club.
At odds 9/4 and with Bet 365 offers, Brentford currently look well placed to finish in the top 10 come the end of the campaign, a position that certainly would enable them to invest further and progress next year – with the fear of any potential ‘second season syndrome’ sure to be prominent in their thinking.
More European Football in West London?
Just across West London, old foes Chelsea are the current European Cup holders and how the Bees would love to be rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest sides on the continent next term.
Whilst they have started the season very impressively, the magnitude of trying to crack the status quo within English football is always significant and breaking into the top 6 is a seriously difficult task.
At 16/1 with Bet Victor to finish in the top 6 in the Premier League next season, it is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility but the current focus for Brentford appears to be staying in the Premier League and embracing the journey they are on.
