Wenger blames Arsenal’s defence, not Arteta, after dramatic draw
Frustrated Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was critical of his team’s defending following their 3-3 draw at home to Fulham.
The Gunners were two up before their defensive lapses helped the Whites storm back and take the lead.
Olivier Giroud’s equaliser rescued a point for Arsenal and they would have had more had Mikel Arteta been able to convert a last-gasp penalty.
But Wenger said: “You cannot blame Mikel for that. It is part of the game.
“The positive is we can score goals but the negative is we have conceded three at home. Defensively, that wasn’t a historically good performance.
“We were most guilty on the corner – 2-0 up and nobody to jump for the ball at all. That of course when you play at home doesn’t often happen.
“It’s frustrating. We have to just keep working on it.”
