War of words ahead of Chelsea clash
A number of today’s papers highlight the fall-out from Chelsea striker Didier Drogba apparently mocking his team’s Champions League opponents Benfica.
Drogba was filmed on Chelsea TV appearing to sarcastically quake with fear after the quarter-final draw was made.
It drew a response from Benfica boss Jorge Jesus, who said: “Any reply to Drogba we will give on the field.
“We eliminated Manchester United this season and Sporting Lisbon put out Manchester City — that should indicate the strengths of Portuguese football.”
Meanwhile, Benfica skipper Luisao has declared that Chelsea are a team in decline.
He is quoted as saying: “Chelsea have improved in the last few weeks, but they are not the strong team they once were. I see they have just failed to win at home against Tottenham.”
