Victory moves O’Meara closer to title shot
Steve O’Meara continued his march towards a shot at the British or Commonwealth light-middleweight titles with a third-round stoppage of Tony Randell at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.
O’Meara was not known as a big puncher before knocking out his previous two opponents – Nathan Weise and fellow West Londoner Ryan Toms – in the first round.
This time the 28-year-old, who was born in Shepherd’s Bush and lives in West Drayton, took slightly longer to finish the job but was again in explosive form.
Earlier, Harrow Weald’s 19-year-old super-featherweight prospect Mitchell Smith made it three wins out of three professional fights when he easily beat Pavels Senkovs on points.
And Wembley welterweight Gary Corcoran, 21, extended his unbeaten record to 4-0 with a victory over Billy Smith, again on points.
