Townsend has proved he is Premier League class, says boss
QPR manager Harry Redknapp says Andros Townsend has proved he belongs in the Premier League.
The former Tottenham boss recently expressed doubts over whether Townsend could make an impact at White Hart Lane next season.
But Redknapp believes that at the very least the 21-year-old winger, who had unsuccessful loan spells in the second and third tiers, has shown while on loan at QPR from Spurs that he can make it in the top flight.
“He’s been excellent. The kid’s done great and it can only have done him the world of good,” said Redknapp.
“He’ll go back to Tottenham a lad who knows he can play in the Premier League.
“He knows he can play there. There’s no doubts now. He was loaned to different Championship clubs but now he’s a player who belongs in the Premier League.
“Nothing intimidates Andros. He’s a determined kid who wants to be a footballer.
“He’s got a great attitude. He lives right and trains right and I think he’s got a good future.”
