So too are Brentford – not least because of Watkins’ late winner in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough at Griffin Park.

Watkins has been outstanding for the Bees this season and scores most weeks. As a bet for first goalscorer, there are few players so consistent and so reliable in front of goal.

So if you’re looking to correctly call first goalscorers, how about a west London treble of Abraham, Mitrovic and Watkins?

And don’t forget QPR. They may be struggling compared to their three neighbours, but while their problems have been in defence, they certainly haven’t had problems finding the net.

Nahki Wells netted 14 goals before departing for Bristol City, which was a huge blow for Rangers. But they still have Jordan Hugill and the exciting Ebere Eze, who are also in double figures when it comes to goals this season.

Eze in particular has really caught the eye and it seems only a matter of time before he is terrorising defences in the Premier League rather than Championship.
