Toms in controversial Prizefighter defeat
Ryan Toms suffered a quick – and controversial – Prizefighter exit at York Hall in Bethnal Green.
The 30-year-old from Northolt, in his first outing since an unsuccessful challenge for the English light-middleweight title in September, was a 20/1 outsider to win the popular tournament.
He nevertheless appeared have the upper hand against Kris Carslaw, but the Scotsman progressed to the semi-finals on a split points decision.
Toms, who has twice held the southern area title, won the three-round bout 29-28 in the eyes of one judge, with the other two judges scoring it to Carslaw by the same margin.
