Superb Chelsea youngsters thrash Saints
Chelsea’s youngsters secured their first Under-21 Premier League win of the season, with fine goals from Lewis Baker and Islam Feruz capping a 4-1 victory at Southampton.
A side which included Nathan Ake hit back after Omar Rowe – who later rattled the post – gave the hosts an early lead.
Alex Davey headed home the equaliser from Baker’s free-kick and Chelsea were ahead at the break courtesy of Isiah Brown’s header from Alex Kiwomya’s cross.
Baker doubled the lead in the second-half with a brilliant left-footed free-kick into the top corner of the net.
And Feruz made made it four in the closing minutes with a cracking 25-yard effort.
The only sour note for Chelsea was an injury to Jeremie Boga, who limped off in first-half stoppage time after picking up a knock.
