Smith set to fight for English title
Mitchell Smith is set to fight for the English title at the Copper Box on 12 April.
Harrow Weald’s super-featherweight prospect, 21, became southern area champion at the same venue last year and in February he extended his unbeaten record to 8-0 by beating Mark Evans.
He is now poised to face Hartlepool’s Peter Cope, 22 and also unbeaten, for the vacant title.
All of Cope’s nine wins have been on points, while Smith’s second-round demolition of Evans was his fourth stoppage victory.
