Should Chelsea sign new players?
After Chelsea’s performance in the just-concluded Barclays’ Premier League, you’d expect Frank Lampard to sign several players. It was of course a general opinion mirrored by the William Hill Sportsbook that Chelsea picked up a form at some point midseason. However, as time went on, the players struggled for wins and even conceded goals than expected.
With the transfer window just two weeks down the line, Chelsea has made some promising addition to the team. The current squad consisting of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, and Thiago Silva have made their way to Stamford bridge. We’re certain the technical team already has strategies in place to fit in these talents. Nonetheless, does Chelsea need to sign more players? Are the current signings enough to rewrite the success story? Let’s answer these questions.
The 19’/20′ Premier league season ended with Chelsea conceding the highest goals among the top six clubs. At this rate, I strongly feel Chelsea’s performance in the coming season would be better off with a new goalkeeper. The success of the club and Lampard’s strategy totally need this signing.
Still, on the goalkeeper, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga had a comfortable play last season. The player failed to meet up with expectations and had a poor saving rate last season. It would do the club well to bring in some competition to keep him on his toes. Of course, the club has offered Stade Rennais’s Mendi two offers now. We believe Mendi would be the perfect competition for Kepa and the success of the team’s saves.
Moving to the center of Chelsea’s team, the midfielders had quite a successful play in the previous season. With every one of them being at the top of their game at intervals, which made it easier for the technical team to make the switches. Nonetheless, the defensive midfielder; Kante was perceived to have underperformed in the previous season. Many believed his frequent injuries are beginning to slow down his skills, causing him to perform below expectations.
Chelsea’s management has had their eyes on Westham’s Declan Rice for a while now and believes he’d be the perfect replacement. Rice’s stunning performance with Westham in the previous season got the interests of several England teams. The defensive midfielder would be the perfect replacement or wing-mate with Kante N’golo. With Rice and Kante at the center of the team’s lineups, Chelsea’s forward should expect brilliant deliveries.
After two weeks into the transfer window, Chelsea is finally closing down on the deal with Kai Havertz. The Bayern Leverkusen’s offensive midfielder has been on the team’s raider all summer. From the look of things, it seems like a successful transfer afterward. Havertz recently completed his medicals, although not on Chelsea’s grounds, the results have been promising. The Rice and Havertz combo is truly a sight to long for next season.
Since the 80m euros asking price placed on N’golo Kante, it’s been confirmed that his transfer would be used to fund Declan Rice. Now to the question on everyone’s lips; is Rice the right exchange for Kante on Chelsea’s team?
