Friday’s DeGale fight called off
James DeGale’s fight against Spaniard Jose Maria Guerrero in Liverpool on Friday has been called off.
The Harlesden super-middleweight was to top the bill at the city’s Echo Arena, but the show has been rescheduled for Friday, 27 January.
His arch rival and fellow west Londoner George Groves was recently forced to withdraw from his planned fight on the same show because of a hand injury.
DeGale was preparing to defend his WBO Intercontintental title. His European crown would not have been on the line as he had been pencilled in for a February defence of that title against mandatory challenger Cristian Sanavia.
