Saints plan to snub bids for Shaw
Southampton intend to reject any offers for their highly-rated 16-year-old left-back Luke Shaw, according to the Press Association.
West London Sport reported on Monday that Chelsea are set to table a formal bid for Shaw in an attempt to beat Manchester City to his signature.
A number of top clubs have been tracking Shaw and Chelsea’s interest became clear during the January transfer window.
Southampton insisted then that they did not want to sell the youngster, who has made one senior appearance for the newly promoted club.
But with champions City believed to be waiting to pounce, Chelsea are ready to make their move and plan to offer an initial fee of around £4m.
Shaw, who turns 17 later this month, was born in Kingston-upon-Thames and has been on Southampton’s books since the age of eight.
Arsenal are thought to be interested as well, but Southampton seem determined to snub any approach for him.
