Sterling named player of the month
Raheem Sterling has been named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for August.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard was on the shortlist after a superb start to the season, but the award went to the Harlesden-raised Manchester City player.
Antonio Valencia of Manchester United and Hull City defender Curtis Davies were also in the running.
“To receive personal awards is great, but it really is all about the team,” said Sterling.
“We’re only just at the beginning of the campaign and there is a long way to go, but I only hope that this is a sign of things to come and by the end of the season the team will be getting our hands on some silverware.”
