QPR, Spurs, Newcastle and others said to be after Inter striker

QPR want Inter Milan’s Luc Castaignos and face competition from Newcastle, Liverpool, Everton, West Ham and Tottenham for the striker, according to the Daily Mirror.

Linked with Inter striker.

It is claimed that West Ham are keen to take the 19-year-old on a season-long loan, while Rangers boss Mark Hughes wants to sign him outright.

Hughes is said to have had a £3m bid for Castaignos rejected and plans to return with an improved offer.

The Mirror also say Blackburn want to sign Jamie Mackie from QPR for £3.5m.

It is suggested that a move for Mackie, who suffered a broken leg at Ewood Park last year, may open the door for a possible exchange deal involving Rovers’ Junior Hoilett.

The Daily Mail mention Sheffield Wednesday’s apparent interest in Rangers’ Joey Barton, as do The Sun, who quote Owls boss Dave Jones as saying: “I wouldn’t be frightened of bringing him here if he became available.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to pay over £60m to land Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani and Brazilian playmaker Oscar in a sensational double swoop, The Sun say.

The Blues are apparently ready to pay £35m for Uruguayan star Cavani, while club owner Roman Abramovich is said to have sanctioned a £25m deal for Internacional’s Oscar.

The Mail say Cavani wants a pay deal worth £150,000 a week if he is to move to Stamford Bridge and also report that Josh McEachran will hold talks with Roberto Di Matteo this week to discover whether he is in the Chelsea manager’s first-team plans.
