Jamie Vardy – 15/8
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has been leading the scoring charts for the majority season and remains the bookies’ favourite to win the Golden Boot at 15/8. The former England striker has seen the benefits of his international retirement by scoring 19 goals in 26 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side so far. That is also despite the fact he went on an eight-game run without a goal in the Premier League between December 26 and February 22, but ended that streak with a brace in his last outing against Aston Villa.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 7/2
It’s been a far from vintage season for Arsenal so far, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s performances have been one of their few highlights. Aubameyang shared the Golden Boot spoils with Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane last term with 22 goals to his name and currently sits just five goals off of that tally with 10 games to play. Any mightily slim hopes that Arsenal may have of finishing in the top four this season will surely be resting on Aubameyang’s shoulders.
Sergio Aguero – 5/1
It’s been another prolific campaign for Sergio Aguero, who still fails to really get the widespread credit he deserves for such a magnificent career in England with Manchester City. Aguero has 16 Premier League goals to his name, incredibly averaging a goal every 88 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, having started just 17 games. Had it not been for niggling injuries, the Argentine would almost certainly be leading the pile and looks a good value selection at 5/1.
Mohamed Salah – 6/1
Mohamed Salah won the Golden Boot in each of his first two seasons with Liverpool and will need a strong run between now and end of the campaign to make it a hat-trick of individual accolades. The Egyptian looks set to win his first Premier League title with the Reds in the coming weeks but would love nothing more than to top it up with yet another Golden Boot, though his current total of 16 goals trails Vardy’s lead by three. It will also be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp utilises his squad once the title win has been completed and whether they will regularly rotate to lower the risk of injury to key players such as Salah.
Sadio Mane – 16/1
Salah’s teammate Sadio Mane is also still in the running as he too looks to regain the shared crown. Mane currently trails Salah on 14 Premier League goals for the season in what has been another stunning campaign for the Senegal forward, who some have argued has been Liverpool’s standout player this season. Still, he may end up suffering from the same rotation policy as Salah in the weeks to come.
Danny Ings – 20/1
Southampton’s Danny Ings is the underdog in this race at present, but will see no reason why he can’t at least break the 20-goal mark for the season. Ings may be feeling slightly done over by the rescheduling of Euro 2020 as he is the leading English scorer in the Premier League this season (outside of the already retired Vardy) and would certainly have had a big claim to be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad. It is already the 27-year-old’s best return in a Premier League season and he will be coming back with plenty of confidence.
Tammy Abraham – 25/1
It’s been a strong breakout season for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, who has scored 13 goals in his full debut season in the first team at Stamford Bridge. Still, those performances haven’t been enough to dissuade Frank Lampard from pursuing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who is expected to join Chelsea in the summer. As such, Abraham may have both a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove heading into the closing weeks of the 2019/20 season.
