Newcastle boss Pardew fears for Taylor after injury
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew says he fears for Ryan Taylor after the midfielder’s first Premier League start since March 2012 ended after just 34 minutes.
Taylor left the pitch in tears as he hobbled off during the first half of the Magpies’ 1-0 win over QPR.
That result, Newcastle’s fifth league victory on the bounce, lifted them up into the top four but Pardew admitted worries over Taylor cast a shadow over the result.
He said: “We’re tinged with sadness because of Ryan’s injury and we are sweating on the scan.
“Our thoughts are with him because if any professional footballer doesn’t deserve a long-term injury again it’s him.
“So we’re a little bit worried about him at the moment but we’ll wait on the scan.”
Taylor, whose American surgeon was at the game at St. James’ Park, was taken to hospital after the match.
