Montanier insists Forest showed signs of improvement

Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier insisted his team showed signs of improvement against Brentford but paid the price for missing chances.

Scott Hogan’s goal gave the Bees a 1-0 victory at Griffin Park, where Montanier felt Forest were better than in their recent 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

“It was better because we conceded less opportunities than last time,” he said.

But the Frenchman was frustrated that Forest were unable to find an equaliser – Britt Assombalonga was denied by keeper Dan Bentley in the final seconds.

“We had a great opportunity to score. We hoped that one would go in,” Montanier said.

“We had opportunities but lacked efficiency in front of goal. If you don’t score you can always concede one goal.

“It’s frustrating but the mentality of the players is very good and we will continue to try to achieve victories in what is a very tough league.”
