City man ‘offered £50k-a-week’
The forthcoming FA Cup clash between QPR and Chelsea – and John Terry and Anton Ferdinand – is in the news today.
So too are Neil Warnock’s comments regarding his recent exit from Loftus Road, and Rangers’ imminent signing of Taye Taiwo from AC Milan.
Elsewhere, Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has been offered £50,000-per-week to move to QPR, the Daily Mirror reports.
It would mean a £10,000-a-week pay rise for the 25-year-old, who has been out of favour at City for some time.
The Sun report QPR’s interest in Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar, while the Daily Mail say Rangers are still keen on his Spurs team-mates Steve Pienaar and Heurelho Gomes.
Finally, The Independent report Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas’ suggestion that feeder clubs should be introduced in England in order to improve youth development.

AVB is dead right. If we want to produce the youth quality to rival Spain, then the ‘B’ team feeder club system that works so well in Spain should be introduced but of course, it won’t be due to the steeped tradition of our league and the likelyhood of inferior teams being promoted, therefore diluting the quality and competitiveness of the EPL. eg – if Chelsea B win the Championship (2nd division) and Man Utd B come second, Arsenal B 3rd and say Liverpool B 4th, Man City B 5th, the clubs promoted to the EPL would be those from 6th and 7th plus the play off winner from 8th-11th. Therefore we could end up with the 11th placed second tier finisher in the EPL. That’s why Spain produces the best youth but has a far less competitive domestic league
