Latest: Fulham 1 Manchester City 2 – Richardson gives Whites hope

Kieran Richardson struck early in the second half to give Fulham renewed hope of taking at least a point at Craven Cottage.

The former Manchester United winger converted from close range after Adel Taarabt’s superb run and cross from the left flank.

Manchester City have twice threatened, either side of Richardson’s goal, with a sliding David Silva unable to get enough on Aleksandar Kolarov’s centre and Jesus Navas firing wide from when well-placed.

Earlier, City had established a first half-lead through Yaya Toure and skipper Vincent Kompany.

Toure opened the scoring midway through the first half with a superb free-kick from the edge of the box.

Kompany then doubled the lead on 42 minutes after Fulham keeper Maarten Stekelenburg parried Martin Demichelis’s header into his path.

Fulham were unable to beat the recalled City keeper Joe Hart in the first half, with Taarabt twice forcing him into good saves.

At the other end, David Silva hit the bar early on while Stekelenburg made a smart stop at his near post to keep out Edin Dzeko.

Philippe Senderos went off during the first half with an injury, replaced by Fernando Amorebieta.

Fulham (4-5-1): Stekelenburg; Riether, Senderos (Amorebieta 36), Hughes, Riise; Dejagah (Kasami 65), Karagounis, Parker, Sidwell, Richardson; Taarabt.
Subs: Stockdale, Kacaniklic, Duff, Ruiz, Bent.
