Ipswich played well but conceded ‘milky’ goal – McCarthy
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy admitted his team paid the price for their sloppy defending in their 2-1 defeat at QPR.
Christophe Berra’s failure to deal with James Perch’s throw-in led to Idrissa Sylla’s opening goal.
And after Tom Lawrence hauled Ipswich level with a fine strike, Adam Webster allowed Pawel Wszolek to squirm away from him and score the winner.
“We played really well today but we conceded two really bad goals,” McCarthy said.
“We created a lot of chances and the second half was a great performance, but we didn’t manage to score and then we gave away a milky goal.
“It was a good performance all round, but they put it in the net instead of us.
“It should have drawn 1-1 and if we don’t win that game then there’s no way we should lose it.
“We played well in the first half, dominated until their goal and played very well in the second half.
“We’ve had two really good performances; a good performance and a good result but then a good performance and a bad result here.
“You’ve more chance of winning if you play well, and we have very played well, but if you give goals away like we have done then it’s going to be difficult.”
