Hughes upbeat ahead of Tottenham clash

Mark Hughes insists QPR remain confident they can get enough points from a difficult run-in to stay in the Premier League.

Relegation rivals Wigan have given themselves some breathing space with recent shock victories over Manchester United and Arsenal, seemingly piling more pressure on the likes of Rangers, Bolton and Blackburn.

But Hughes, whose team face Tottenham on Saturday and visit Manchester City on the final day of the season, says the R’s have also shown they are capable of producing surprise results.

“People have been saying we have a really tough run-in for the last four or five games and we’ve done really well in games when people didn’t expect us to take points,” he said.

“We’re going to have to do that until the end of the season and if we do we’ll be fine. I’m sure people wouldn’t have had us down for wins against Arsenal and Liverpool.”
