Hughes is a worthy contender to replace Moyes, insists Redknapp
Harry Redknapp has insisted that Mark Hughes is a worthy contender to replace David Moyes at Everton.
Hughes, sacked as QPR boss last year after a dismal run of results, has been touted as a possible successor to the Manchester United-bound Moyes.
Joey Barton, who was frozen out by him at Loftus Road has warned that Everton appointing Hughes would be “suicide”.
But Redknapp, who took over from Hughes at relegated Rangers, believes the Welshman deserves to be considered.
He said: “Why not? Mark is a good manager, so why shouldn’t he be linked with the job?
“He had a little spell at Everton [as a player] although he’s a Man United man really. Good luck to him. If that’s what he wants I wish him well.”
