Harrison leaves door open for return

Audley Harrison has not ruled out fighting again despite his crushing defeat against David Price on Saturday.

The former Olympic champion’s bid to answer his critics ended in brutal fashion, with the unbeaten Price flattening him only 82 seconds into their British and Commonwealth heavyweight title clash.

Harrison, 40, says he is considering his future and is likely to walk away from the sport.

But despite being widely tipped to announce his retirement following his latest loss, he appears to be keeping his options open.

“My whole gameplan was about avoiding his right, so to get lined up like that is a disappointment for me,” he said.

“Father Time has caught up with me as I didn’t see the initial shot so could not react. He finished me off like a good pro, so I have no complaints.

“I have said when I turn up to win, and lose to nothing other than ability, I will know my time’s up, so this could be my last bout.

“I’ll take some time to think this out, as I never want to come back to boxing once I’ve walked away.”

He added: “I started this journey as a 19-year-old juvenile tearaway, boxing at the Top Hat social club in Ealing.

“If it’s to end here, what a ride it’s been and I’m grateful to the universe for allowing me to find my destiny and walk the precarious road my way.”
