Half-time: Man City 1 QPR 0
Manchester City have been embarrassingly dominant at the Etihad Stadium, where they lead courtesy of Yaya Toure’s 16th-minute goal.
Toure netted from close range after QPR were unable to clear David Silva’s corner.
Silva was then denied by a good save from Rob Green as the Premier League champions kept their beleaguered opponents under the cosh.
Estaban Granero, who this week joined Rangers from Real Madrid – whose boss Jose Mourinho is watching in the stands – was handed a debut by manager Mark Hughes.
The Spaniard is in midfield alongside Alejandro Faurlin and there are also starting places for Andrew Johnson and former City favourite Shaun Wright-Phillips, with Junior Hoilett dropping to the bench.
