Half-time: Fulham 1 Cardiff 0
Tim Hoogland nodded in Fulham’s first home goal of the new season to give them a thoroughly deserved lead at the break.
The German timed his run perfectly to guide Ross McCormack’s cross beyond Cardiff keeper David Marshall midway through the first half.
Fulham were on top throughout the opening 45 minutes as they hunt their first points of the Championship campaign.
Scott Parker was dominant in midfield, Chris David looked lively and McCormack threatened throughout from the left-hand side, while Dan Burn and the impressive full-backs snuffed out Cardiff’s much-vaunted attack.
Parker and McCormack both sent efforts wide early on before Hoogland – who had also netted on the opening day at Ipswich – broke the Fulham home drought when he glanced the ball home.
Emerson Hyndman drilled a shot wide and David put a free-kick past the angle of post and bar as the Whites continued to force Cardiff on the back foot.
