Fulham trailed at the break to a well-worked 10th-minute goal by Fernando Forestieri.

The Italian striker swept a low right-footed shot in off the far post after fine build-up play around the edge of the box involving Barry Bannan and Gary Hooper.

Fulham had started brightly but were left shaken by the goal and struggled to get going in the final third.

Their best chance of the half came from a Stefan Johansen corner, but Kevin McDonald sent a powerful header over the bar.

Fulham were fortunate to survive when Gary Hooper slid the ball past the far post with just the keeper to beat, before Forestieri slashed an effort wide.

Whites boss Slavisa Jokanovic selected the same team for the third game in a row, having beaten Huddersfield and Brentford.

Fulham: Button; Fredericks, Kalas, Sigurdsson, Malone; Johansen, McDonald; Cairney, Aluko, Piazon; Martin.
Subs: Bettinelli, Odoi, Ream, Sessegnon, Parker, Ayite, Smith.
