Half-time: Fulham 0 Hull City 0
Fulham dominated possession in the first half but lacked a spark going forward in the absence of Ross McCormack.
The club’s leading scorer, wanted by Middlesbrough and ruled out of this game through illness, watched from the stands as his team-mates looked ponderous in the final third despite having most of the ball.
They did create one clear chance, seven minutes before the break.
Tom Cairney’s low shot was palmed away by Hull keeper Allan McGregor, but before Alex Kacaniklic could reach the loose ball, former Brentford defender Moses Odubajo slid in to clear.
Cairney also saw a shot deflected wide as Fulham, who were applauded off at the break for their effort and determination, ended the half strongly.
Hull, who started the day second in the Championship, had squandered the first opportunity of the game when Abel Hernandez raced clear but was denied by the advancing Whites keeper Andy Lonergan.
Seconds earlier, Kacaniklic had a shot blocked when well placed.
Moussa Dembele, in for McCormack, showed some neat touches but Fulham did not threaten McGregor until Cairney’s effort.
