Half-time: Chelsea 2 Newcastle 0
Eden Hazard scored his first goal for Chelsea as they raced into a commanding lead at Stamford Bridge.
With Frank Lampard not in the starting line-up, Hazard steered home from the penalty spot after Fernando Torres had been brought down in the area by Vurnon Anita.
Chelsea continued to dominate and Fabricio Coloccini produced a last-ditch challenge to stop Torres getting on the end of Juan Mata’s centre.
Newcastle then rallied and Demba Ba sent an effort over the bar at the far post following a cross by Papiss Cisse.
But Torres’ brilliant finish in first-half injury time doubled the home side’s advantage.
He found Hazard and the Belgian back-heeled the ball back to the rejuvenated Blues striker, who fired beyond keeper Tim Krul and into the top corner of the net.

Clearly a dive from Torres. When is the FA going to make this a red card offence – retrospectivelt too?
