Half-time: Chelsea 0 Norwich 0

Kenedy of Chelsea
Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas missed decent chances for Chelsea and both teams felt they could have been awarded a penalty during a goalless first half at Stamford Bridge.

Fabregas sent a first-time effort over the bar after being picked out by Eden Hazard, as did Costa following a similar low cross from the left by Pedro.

And Blues skipper John Terry went close with a skilful flick wide of the near post from Willian’s right-wing corner.

At the other end, Nathan Redmond had a shot saved by keeper Asmir Begovic and Norwich striker Dieumerci Mbokani fired over after being found by Robbie Brady’s cross.

The Canaries have posed a threat on the counter-attack and appealed in vain for a penalty when Brady went down under a challenge from Willian in the 33rd minute.

The hosts also wanted a penalty when Willian played the ball in to Costa, who went down following a tangle with defender Sebastien Bassong.

Costa had another chance three minutes before the break but keeper John Ruddy used his right foot to keep out the striker’s shot.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, whose side have lost seven of their 12 Premier League matches this season, gave Kenedy his first league start.

Branislav Ivanovic is also playing, having been passed fit following a hamstring problem.
