Gullit tips Mourinho to make Stamford Bridge return
Former Chelsea player and manager Ruud Gullit has told Sky Sports News he believes Jose Mourinho could return to the club.
Ex-Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has been touted as the favourite to succeed the sacked Robert Di Matteo.
But Gullit feels Real Madrid boss Mourinho could end up back at Stamford Bridge, where he enjoyed great success before being shown the door by owner Roman Abramovich.
“I always had a very good feeling before they won the Champions League last season that they already had someone in the frame to take over,” said Gullit.
“I always have a feeling Mourinho is in the frame all the time because of the simple reason that just after Chelsea won the Champions League [boosting Di Matteo’s chances of getting the job] he a signed new contract [at Real Madrid] and that for me was no coincidence.
“He loved it in England and the press loved him also. And of course he’s a good coach – his record says everything. I think a lot of people would love to see him in England.”
