Groves & DeGale weigh in ahead of fights
George Groves and James DeGale have both weighed in ahead of their respective fights this weekend.
Both super-middleweights are on the verge of world title challenges and will be in action at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday.
Groves faces Derek Douglin of the United States, while his arch-rival and fellow west Londoner DeGale takes on former world title challenger Marco Antonio Periban.
Hammersmith’s Groves will be defending his WBC Silver title and was 11st 13lb, but Douglin was a 4oz over the 12-stone limit and was told to weigh in again later.
Mexican Periban was 1lb 9oz over the limit but was given the all-clear as his clash with DeGale, who like Groves weighed 11st 13lbs, is a non-title bout.
DeGale is the mandatory challenger for the IBF world title Carl Froch twice successfully defended against Groves.
Groves was last in action in September, beating Christopher Rebrasse on points to win a final eliminator for a shot at the WBC world title belt currently held by American Anthony Dirrell.
