Fulham ‘in pole position’ to sign French defender in January

Fulham are weighing up a £3m bid for Porto centre-back Eliaquim Mangala, according to The Sun.

The France Under-21 star has been linked with a number of clubs but Whites boss Martin Jol is apparently in pole position to sign him in January.

The Sun also say angry referees are threatening to boycott Chelsea matches.

They have held talks about not taking charge of Blues games and even discussed all-out strike action, it is claimed.

Ex-referee Clive Wilkes told the paper that officials are angered by Chelsea’s accusation that Mark Clattenburg used “inappropriate language” to John Obi Mikel during Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.

Wilkes said: “I keep in touch with a lot of the lads and there is such a strength of feeling about what is happening to Mark.

“I know a few referees who are even talking about boycotting Chelsea games because of all this.”

He added: “There have even been murmurings about strike action but that’s very much the last resort.

“They’d much prefer to get around the table with the FA, PFA, the clubs and players to sort this out as quickly as possible.”

The Daily Express suggest Chelsea will face an FA charge after Clattenburg was confronted by Mikel, Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo and others immediately after the United game.
