Sinclair to play in Stones charity match
Former QPR and England winger Trevor Sinclair will lead an all-star side that will play Wealdstone later this month.
The Stones won Marathonbet’s Non-League Challenge, a nationwide competition in support of Prostate Cancer UK to find non-League football’s best goal celebration.
Their prize was a cheque for £10,000 and a share of proceeds from a match against Premier League legends, including Sinclair and ex-R’s defender Danny Gabbidon, on Sunday 31 July.
Four other former England internationals – Darren Anderton, Dion Dublin, Kevin Davies and Chris Powell – are also expected to feature, as are Matt Holland, Muzzy Izzet and ex-Arsenal defenders Lauren and Nigel Winterburn.
The Stones won the most votes in the competition ahead of Chelmsford City, Truro City, Whitehawk and Torquay United, for fan Gordon Hill’s ‘dentist chair’ impersonation.
