Rodgers laughs off Mourinho’s ‘little horse’ remark as Liverpool close on Chelsea
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers jokingly labelled his team the ‘chihuahua’ of the title race after their dramatic 3-2 victory against Fulham.
The Reds were behind twice but moved to within four points of leaders Chelsea courtesy of Steven Gerrard’s last-minute penalty at Craven Cottage.
Asked about Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho’s recent claim that the Blues were a “little horse” compared to the likes of Manchester City, Rodgers said: “I don’t do all that horse thing.
“I know Jose very well and he does all that sort of thing. We might be a Chihuahua that runs in between their legs.”
Rodgers, once part of Mourinho’s coaching staff at Chelsea, added: “There’s still a long way to go. Our concentration has always been on the next game and improving on the training ground.”
