Redknapp keen to cause City problems

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is hopeful his side can maintain their recent improved form when they face champions Manchester City at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Having been woeful in 4-0 losses at Tottenham and Manchester United earlier in the season, Rangers were much more competitive in recent narrow defeats against Liverpool and Chelsea.

And the battling display at Stamford Bridge has convinced Redknapp that a corner has been turned following the dreadful start to the campaign.

He said: “I think it gives us encouragement. To come away from home and be hard to beat is important.

“I felt we got it all wrong when we went to Tottenham early in the season and stood off them, let them have the ball and didn’t make a tackle.

“We can’t play like that. You can’t play football that way. That’s been the difference.

“We’ve got a big game next week, a good game – Man City at home. Hopefully we can give them a real tough game as well.”

Rangers hope to have former City players Joey Barton and Nedum Onuoha back from injury along with Jordon Mutch.

All three players have been out with hamstring problems but have been pencilled in for a return to training this week.
