Harry wants no repeat of Spurs debacle
Harry Redknapp has told his players there must be no repeat of their dismal display against Tottenham when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford today.
Rangers were beaten 4-0 at White Hart Lane and can expect another thrashing if they produce a similar type of performance this afternoon.
Recent signings such as striker Radamel Falcao are set to feature for a new-look United side full of attacking talent.
But R’s boss Redknapp said: “Sometimes you can drive yourself mad thinking about the opposition. We need go out there and compete.
“I felt we went to Tottenham and everybody’s worried about where they’ve got to be and in the end you forget to play yourselves.
“There’s nothing like playing with energy, getting after teams, and if you do that I still think that’s the key.
“They’re full of quality up front but we’ve got to get at them. We’ve got to try to do our best, when we can, to make sure we pose a threat to them.”
United are overwhelming favourites but have looked vulnerable at the back this season, perhaps giving Rangers some hope of causing an upset at the ground they famously won 4-1 at on New Year’s Day 1992.
“I’m sure there will be teams that get at them this year. Hopefully we can be a threat,” Redknapp added.
“Anything can happen. It’s up to us to go there and work hard and give everything. It’s a great game at the fantastic stadium. If we can’t enjoy that then we shouldn’t be doing what we’re doing.”
