Redknapp ‘won’t lose any sleep’ over Saints fans’ hostile reception
QPR boss Harry Redknapp insists he will be untroubled by the hostile reception he is bound to receive when he returns to Southampton this weekend.
The south coast club were relegated during Redknapp’s time as manager and he later quit and rejoined their bitter rivals Portsmouth, having left Fratton Park weeks before his appointment by Southampton in 2004.
He remains a hugely unpopular figure among Saints fans, who have seen their team make a brilliant start to the season.
“I won’t lose any sleep on Saturday night over it,” Redknapp said ahead of his team’s visit to St Mary’s.
“They hate Portsmouth. It’s hatred. And Portsmouth was my club on the south coast really, apart from Bournemouth.
“When I was at Southampton I enjoyed it. It’s a real good football club and everything’s in place there. The fans were good to me when I was there.”

Although to follow on from what David says, we do acknowledge that he gave us the best times we’ve ever had – PUP

Not what he said at the time. He said Portsmouth was a much superior squad to ours, just shows what little he knows as a manager and his signings were awful and the major reason we were relegated.
