Dennis Adeniran’s debut goal gave Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham a half-time lead in the League Cup first round.

The 17-year-old, playing in midfield with Scott Parker, headed home Sean Kavanagh’s corner unmarked on 28 minutes.

The Whites almost had a second when lively left-back Ryan Sessegnon, one of four academy graduates making their first senior appearances, crossed the ball millimetres in front of Cauley Woodrow’s head.

Youngsters Luca De La Torre and Tayo Edun were also effective but Jesse Joronen, in goal as one of 11 changes, had to make a good save from Orient striker Ollie Palmer to maintain the visitor’s advantage.
