Soccer - UEFA Champions League - Group G - Chelsea v FC Schalke 04 - Stamford Bridge

Gary Cahill went close to giving Chelsea an early lead during a lively start to the derby at Stamford Bridge, where Tottenham must win in order to keep their slim title hopes alive.

With the home fans desperate for their team to ensure their London rivals do not win the Premier League, Chelsea’s players have responded with a high-tempo display so far.

And they almost went ahead when Cahill headed wide from Cesc Fabregas’ left-wing corner.

At the other end, Danny Rose fired wide from 25 yards.

Cahill and skipper John Terry returned to the heart of the Chelsea defence after recovering from injuries. Eden Hazard was dropped to the Blues bench.
