Fit-again Smith ready to show his power
Mitchell Smith says he is punching harder than ever after recovering from a hand injury – and will prove it this weekend.
Harrow’s super-featherweight prospect, 21, faces Mark Evans at Bethnal Green’s York Hall on Saturday night.
It will be his first fight since damaging his hand while winning the southern-area title against Scott Moises in September, when he extended his unbeaten record to 7-0.
Evans, 32, is the Welsh champion and is also undefeated, having won nine and drawn one of his 10 professional bouts.
“This is good fight against Evans and will raise my performance against someone who’s undefeated,” said Smith.
“It’s been frustrating being out of the ring and not being able to punch, but the hand is absolutely perfect now.
“I’m punching hard and confidently so I’m raring to go. I can’t wait to get back in the ring, start fighting regularly again and show everybody what I can do.”
