Fit-again Smith aiming to make his mark
Mitchell Smith aims to go from strength to strength following Saturday’s victory against Mark Evans.
Super-featherweight Smith, 21, extended his unbeaten record to 8-0 with a second-round stoppage of Welshman Evans, who had claimed he was not worried about the Harrow prospect’s power.
“That was a mind game,” the former ABA champion told West London Sport.
“This is what’s exciting about me – even if I’m losing a fight I’ve got the power to knock a guy clean out.
“I’m in the best place of my life right now and I’m just excited about what 2014 is going to bring.”
It was an emphatic return to the ring for Smith, who had not fought since September because of a hand injury.
“It’s scary really what I’m able to do now, so give me a year of being active and let’s see where I’m at then,” he said.
