Ferguson: United’s forwards are as good as the class of ’99
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson paid tribute to his forwards after they destroyed Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round.
United were hugely impressive in their 4-1 victory over the Whites, who never looked like causing an upset.
And Ferguson is desperate for his team to go on and lift the trophy for the first time in a decade.
He told ESPN: “The FA Cup is an important trophy for us this season. We haven’t won it for 10 years.
“Rio Ferdinand has never won an FA Cup medal, so we need to do something about that.
“The four strikers we had in 1999 were fantastic players but we have four now who are equally as good.
“If we can get three or four players around the 20-goal bracket then we’re in business.”
