Di Matteo hails Chelsea’s passion
Interim boss Roberto Di Matteo was delighted to see Chelsea play with passion in their FA Cup victory at Birmingham.
Di Matteo, placed in charge following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas, saw goals from Juan Mata and Raul Meireles secure a 2-0 win and a quarter-final clash with Leicester.
It was an encouraging performance by the Blues in their first game since Villas-Boas was shown the door.
“The attitude was right. The commitment was right. The passion was there,” Di Matteo told ITV.
“It’s important to show that we care – that we can fight for the club and our supporters. The players were up for it.
“We’re all in this together. We have to help each other so that we can achieve our goals for the rest of the season.
“It will only be possible if all 25 players are unselfish and we pull together.”
