Di Matteo defends team selection
Roberto Di Matteo defended his decision to make eight changes to Chelsea’s starting line-up for their defeat at Liverpool.
The interim boss rested a number of players ahead of the forthcoming Champions League final.
Chelsea must win that final against Bayern Munich to qualify for next season’s tournament after their 4-1 loss at Anfield ended any lingering chance of a top-four finish.
“We’ve come so far because we’ve used the energy and players we have in the squad. That is the only way to be in the race until now. I have no regrets,” Di Matteo told Sky.
“We’ve had very intense games and to get yourself up for all those has been a big demand. I thought tonight fresh legs would give us a better chance.
“We’ve got a game on Sunday and we want to finish our last game well to go into the Champions League final in a positive mood.”
More reaction later.
