Chelsea’s youngsters thrash Fulham
Chelsea’s youngsters strolled to a resounding 3-0 victory over Fulham in the Under-21 Premier League on Monday evening.
Nathan Ake, Islam Feruz and Adam Phillip scored in a rain-swept game at the Blues’ Cobham training ground which was watched by manager Rafael Benitez and club owner Roman Abramovich.
Despite being without some of their most influential players – striker Patrick Bamford and captain Todd Kane recently went out on loan and Lucas Piazon was not involved – Chelsea were on top from the start and all the goals came in the first half.
They went ahead in the 17th minute when Ake sent a glorious left-footed effort into the corner from 25 yards.
Blues midfielder Rohan Ince had a header cleared off the line before Feruz fired in the second goal after being set up by George Saville.
And once Phillip finished off a great team move to make it three, there was no way back for Fulham.
