The Spaniard impressed as substitute in the draw with Burnley and impressed as a starter in the FA Cup win over Wolves and keeps his place ahead of Nemanja Matic.
Thibaut Courtois is fit enough to start in goal. The Belgian was ill during the week but returns to the line-up at the expense of Asmir Begovic, who played against Wolves.
Defensive duo David Luiz and Marcos Alonso also return after being rested for the win at Molineux as the Blues look to extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points.
Swans captain Leon Britton is named on the bench as he features for the first time under head coach Paul Clement having overcome calf and back problems.
Winger Wayne Routledge replaces the injured Nathan Dyer.
