Chelsea started my year of bad luck, says Harry Redknapp
Harry Redknapp says he has had terrible luck over the last 12 months – and it started with Chelsea’s European triumph.
A year ago Redknapp was in charge of Tottenham and being touted as the next England manager.
Now his QPR side look all but relegated despite huge spending before and since his arrival at Loftus Road.
And Redknapp says his woeful year began with Chelsea’s Champions League victory against Bayern Munich, which cost Spurs a place in this season’s tournament and seemingly triggered his departure from White Hart Lane.
“I don’t think I’ve been very lucky this year. Chelsea won the Champions League and it’s sort of gone from there really,” he said.
“I couldn’t help Lionel Messi missing a penalty [against Chelsea], Bayern Munich battering Chelsea in the final and not being able to score and Arjen Robben missing a penalty.
“It cost Tottenham a Champions League place, but that’s life.”

“Arry’s ‘bad luck’ started when he got off the tax charge and thought he was the next England manager. He then took his eye off the ball and Spurs stopped winning. One more point would have put us in the CL and Arsenal in the position of being ousted by Chelsea. Arry drew at Aston Villa when we should have one. ‘Arry made all his own bad luck.
